Top 20 Best Restaurants in Tokyo
One of the Best Chinese Restaurants in Tokyo. Authentic Chinese food with the chefs from Hong Kong making Cantonese style Chinese food.
They make excellent Dim Sum and are one of my favourite places for lunch, though the selection of Dim Sum is limited. There are a few dumplings for choice, shouronpo (chinese soup pork dumplings) with shredded ginger on the side, sui mai (pork and shrimp dumplings), delicious soup gyoza (pork and vegetable dumplings) with chili sauce, vegetable and prawn dumplings, ha gao (prawn only dumplings).
I like the prawn spring rolls, spareribs in black bean sauce which is delicious and the wrapped lotus leaf sticky rice parcels. They also make an excellent Pork and pitan (preserved duck egg) congee, with leek, chinese pickled vegetable and wonton crisps instead of the usual dough roll. There is the choice of both large or small portions. However, note the small portion is quite large and serves approx 3 bowls each! for 2 persons. There is also a blackboard displaying daily/ weekly specials. The specials are excellent, often seasonal and always changing.
The main dishes are also excellent (recommended for evening dining). They serve great drunken prawns, black vinegar pork, Gai lan (chinese broccoli) and much more.
The food is consistently excellent with all ingredients being of high quality.
Chinese and Japanese menu only. The restaurant itself is quite small on 2 floors with chinese decor. The 1st floor is nicer and much brighter than the downstairs room but the restaurant is popular with group bookings so reservations are recommended.
Prices are not cheap but it is worth it for the quality of food. 2 people @ lunch-time: 3 dim sum and small Congee with 2 beers approx JPY 5,000 total.
Tel: 3449-8899 Address: Ebisu 3-48-1
Open 11:30am-2:30pm, 6-11pm (LO). Closed Wednesdays. Open Sundays
There is also a take-out shop opened on the same street, on the opposite side of the restaurant, turn right out of the restaurant away from Ebisu and towards Shirokane Takanawa. Here they serve bento boxes with a lot of the dinner items for choice such as the prawns in mayonnaise, black vinegar pork as well as desserts, mango pudding and annin tofu at very reasonable prices.
