Top 20 Best Restaurants in Tokyo
Famous for the view on the 52F, with views over Tokyo, the window tables need to be booked at least one month in advance. There are 2 seatings 7pm and 9pm (or at least there used to be, its been a few years since I last visited).
Equally famous for the excellent beef steaks they serve. The beef is marbled beef, with a steak menu listing beef from all the famous regions in Japan: Matsuzaka, Yonezawa and Yamagata as well as many other prefectures in Japan. The beef is amazing and melts in your mouth. If you are a foreigner you may find the steaks too rich compared to the steaks served in the UK as the marbled fat is quite unique to Wa-gyu (Japanese-beef). The rib-eye is meatier, the sirloin is marbled and very rich.
The steaks come by themselves so you need to order sides separately. The side dishes are not overly special, we ordered mashed potato and a vegetable dish both fine but the main highlight is the beef. Bread and butter is served free (included in the service/ table charge).
We went for a special occasion and my husband pre-ordered a chocolate cake which was from the Park Hyatt bakery on the second floor. The cake was excellent and I would recommend just trying the pastry boutique if you do not have a chance to visit the Restaurant.
As one would expect with a restaurant famous for the view and for the beef, the price is not cheap. The steaks range in price with the mid-price approx JPY 10,000 just for the steak, with wine, sides and everything else on top. I would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion. Japanese and English menu available.
Next door to the restaurant on the same floor is a bar with live music nightly. The bar is featured in the film “Lost in Translation” and is a great place for a post-dinner drink. The bar is open to everyone and they serve bar snacks, so I would also recommend just visiting the bar if you do not have a chance to dine at the restaurant.

** I’ve just taken a look at the restaurant website and the menu seems to have changed quite a lot since I visited, with a wider selection of imported beef now served. The selection of Japanese beef is now limited which is disappointing, though I’m sure the few remaining on the menu would still be excellent.
